Bitcoin Hit $5,900 CAD Today

Symbolized Bitcoin price rising (Pixabay)

The cryptocurrency has now hit yet another milestone in its lifetime. It hit a whopping $5,900 Cad. That's certainly a high number and a high increase for anyone that has already invested in the currency. The coin has received a lot of support and is managing to keep rising in price, however, when will it go back down. However, despite the differences in price, is it worth to invest in or not.  What are the dangers of investing in crypto coins?

Anyone that had invested in the currency when it was at $3,100 Cad is probably jumping around now that they had the patience to hold onto their investment until they got a hefty profit. Some people even managed to buy it when it was pretty low at $5,300 and could still get a nice increase on that investment.

Bitcoin has had support from Japan and many large companies that accept it. Some of those companies are large banks such as Citi Bank who supposedly support the crypto coin.

Support from simply people all around the world has grown tremendously over the years with people dedicating their computers to mining Bitcoin and in turn, keep the price staying consistent with a steady amount of block chains and many other factors.

One question that is a difficult one to answer for a lot of people. Is it worth to invest in or not? As in should, someone purchase some Bitcoin when it goes low and hopes that it rises again, so they can sell it for profit. Well that depends, you're only supposed to invest capital that you're willing to lose. It's possible that you can lose your investment because what you bought will be worth less if Bitcoin's price goes down. However, if the price rises you can end up making some money, which is always fun to do.

In short, you should invest a small amount of money that you're willing to lose, if it goes up you make money and if it goes down, you basically lose some money. If it does go down at least you didn't invest a lot of money into it. That's why it's best to invest a small amount of capital that you're willing to lose.

P.S only invest money that you're willing to lose.

Trump Threatens NAFTA Termination

Donald Trump Reuters/Dominick Reuter

The President of the United States, Donald Trump has once again mentioned that the NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) might need to start being terminated. The countries involved are Mexico, Canada, and the United States. Canada and Mexico are putting up a tough fight for Trump at the moment.

The President has wanted to get a better deal for the American people for a long time. Since he was elected there were people talking about it. Trump has shown consistently that he wants the United States to get a good deal that benefits Americans and their jobs.

Canadians also feel that the renegotiations are a good thing because they can improve the deal for themselves as well as the United States. However, some people had expressed concerns that the negotiations might end up giving Canadians the short end of the stick.  If Canada does end up getting a bad deal then it might be a possibility that trade with the Chinese or the European Union could increase to try and make up for the bad deal.

When Trump mentioned that he probably thinks the U.S will have to terminate NAFTA Canadian and Mexican officials were prepared for it. They expected that and are looking for all available options with the negotiations to modernize the NAFTA deal so that if benefits everyone on all sides in one way or another.

Justin Trudeau the Prime Minister of Canada responded to Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo from Mexico and said that the Liberal government would continue to work "seriously" to improve NAFTA.

Mexico reportedly has a plan B in case the termination actually happens.

Guajardo said: “Next Friday there is the possibility that we find an impasse, the possibility that this does not advance, we can’t rule that out,”

“We are also analyzing a scenario with no NAFTA,”  He said.

Guajardo said to Reuters earlier this month that the "plan B"  was being prepped to replace things like the billions of dollars in grain Mexico imports from the United States per year.

While NAFTA talks keep going on for the mean time, Mexico is meeting with other nations to expand trade. Those nations are Australia and New Zealand. Mexico is also hosting trade talks with Brazil this week.  The meetings are apparently separate. The President of Mexico, Enrique Pena Nieto is said to be traveling to China.

This attempt at trade diversification is good. It must dearly noted that it is not an easy task.  Around 80% of all Mexican exports go to the United States. That's a large amount to make up for in the worst case scenario.

Guajardo also mentioned something that could greatly benefit Mexico. If NAFTA did end up being terminated by the United States then apparently World Trade Organization tariffs could come in. It might be beneficial to Mexico.

Trudeau said Ottawa Won't Take Sir John A. Macdonald's Name Off Federal Buildings

People called for the removal of a statue of Sir John A. MacDonald at a rally in Regina on Tuesday. (Rob Kruk/Radio-Canada )

Justin Trudeau the Prime Minister of Canada has come out and said that Ottawa will not remove Sir John A. Macdonald’s name off of Federal buildings. Sir John A. Macdonald’s was Canada's first ever Prime Minister.

The historical figure has come under fire after an Ontario teachers' Union passed a motion that asked for the removal of John A. Macdonald's name from schools in the province. It was reported that the motion was for elementary schools.  There is a petition to have the removal of his statue in Regina.

The government is also under pressure from Indigenous groups that want to confront the way historical figures are celebrated.

Despite what Trudeau has said currently, in June he apparently removed Hector-Louis Langevin's name from the Ottawa building that actually houses the Prime Minister's office. That announcement was done after Indigenous MPs and Bellegarde called for the removal because Langevin was part of the residential school system.

These calls for the removal of historical figures are coming at a time where the same thing is going on inside the United States. Many people want the Robert. E. Lee statue removed because of the history behind it. Confederate monuments are a target because of historical racism with the figures.

You can read our article on President Trump defending the monuments in the United States here http://www.vanguardnews.ca/2017/08/trump-you-cant-change-history-defending.html

Perry Bellegarde who is part of the  Assembly of First Nations National Chief commended the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario for its motion.

The debate starts when some people feel that these figures should not be removed at all because it can cause some people to forget the history behind it. Others believe that people can remember the history behind it without having the statue or name on or in the buildings.

What Is Tor And How It Can Protect You Against Government Surveillance

Tor Browser wallpaper, taken from http://wallup.net

Tor is a service that can really aid anyone in staying hidden from people or governments who want to track them. We all know governments have surveillance operations for its citizens and some people dislike that a lot. Whether it is they dislike it because they're operating something illegally or if they just like being private. Tor is a service that keeps you anonymous while using the internet. How do you set it up and how does it work?

So what exactly is Tor? Well, it's a web browser in short, but it uses a search engine called DuckDuckGo. Which is good because it doesn't collect your info and they don't track you and Tor utilizes DuckDuckGo.

Tor is available for free and is really easy to use. You can download it for Windows, Linux, and even Mac. There are also versions of it for mobile devices. If you've got an Android phone you can get it from the Play Store. It's pretty popular considering it has 10 million downloads.

Once downloaded onto your computer all you need to do is run the program and it will install it easily with you clicking next a few times.

Tor helps people who want to stay hidden from their governments, other people, stalkers, and advertisers. It keeps an "onion" level of security around your real info. So it encrypts your data then sends it to another place and then it does the same thing again. It resembles an onion with layers of protection until the info is found.  It sends your data somewhere in the world and the computer that is getting that data only decrypts a small portion so it can send it to another location, this trying to keep you hidden. It also helps keeps your IP address hidden and it even changes it several times.

The service keeps your data secure but it doesn't mean you can not be found. If someone wants to find you they can, assuming that you've used your real name or email on tor. If you have it is possible that someone can track you down but it might just take them a good while before they can locate where you actually are.

As you probably already know some people like Tor because they don't want to be tracked and want to stay private. As with anything that is popular some people conduct illegal activity on it. In this case, it can be small things from buying fake IDs to larger things like buying a gun or drugs.

There are some disadvantages with using Tor though. As we mentioned above, Your data is encrypted then sent to another place that decrypts a small portion of that data to send it to another place and basically it ends up being very encrypted. Now with all that being done Tor can be slower than other services like Google. It's great for security but is not so great for speed. You always need to give something up for something else right.

Walmart And Google To Start Voice Activated Shopping

Walmart at 8500 Golf Road, NIles. PhotoPat Krochmal

The two massive giants known as Walmart and Google are said to be dabbling in the voice activated shopping area of things. The voice activated shopping option is supposed to be released in late September.

The voice activated shopping feature is apparently going to operate with Google Assistant. The individual would be capable of buying things like Lego, and laundry detergent. There should also be a lot more things you can buy using the service.

Marc Lore, CEO  of Walmart's U.S. e-commerce business said: "Voice shopping is becoming a more important part of everyday shopping behavior,"

Google has been working tirelessly to help improve it's Google Assistant. The company has invested tirelessly into the service by improving natural language processing.

This service is apparently going to be really easy to use. According to reports Lore said that users should be able to shout out things like milk, bread, and Google Assistant will know the exact brand that they want.

This partnership between Walmart and Google is another tactic to give Amazon a harder time at the overall competition.

Google added shopping to Google Home reportedly in February. Many people were happy about it because they could now buy things from places like Target. That's under the Google Express Program and it basically lets you do your shopping online and done fast.

The Amazon Echo has had a lot of similar features. You can order stuff off Amazon using your voice. You can also apparently utilize features that allow you to order food using the Echo.

Walmart has also improved its curb pick up for groceries that are ordered online and also improved shipping strategies.

People are enjoying this partnership between Google and Walmart because they know how efficient the two companies are. When things like this happen it certainly gives a great deal of hope for a sci-fi style of ordering groceries.

However, despite Walmart and Google's efforts Amazon still has a strong loyalty program. They use awesome things like next day delivery for Amazon Prime users. Amazon also has exceptional customer service that can aid a customer in so many ways. All these things considered, and Amazon knows how to keep a customer coming back.

Walmart and Google are going to aid the user experience by connecting your Walmart account to Google Express. This is part of Walmart's Easy Reorder service.  It apparently has data of store and online purchases which when your account is linked can make for a quick reorder of your favorite items.

Lore said the company wants to make voice activated shopping as easy as possible for people, "that's why it makes sense for us to team up with Google."

Whatever the case may be it's certainly a step in the right direction for anyone that likes to do things quickly whether it be with Walmart, Google, or Amazon. All these companies are working hard to get people what they want fast and to make sure they have a great time while they're getting their items.

North Korea Launches More Rockets Into Sea

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un guides a target-striking contest of the special operation forces of the Korean People's Army to occupy islands in this undated picture provided by the Korean Central News Agency in Pyongyang on Aug. 25, 2017. (KCNA/Reuters)

The unpredictable North Korean state has once again simply caused trouble by launching three rockets into the nearby sea between the Korean Peninsula and Japan.

The missiles did not seem to be ICBM (Intercontinental ballistic missile)  These missiles were short range, and are just another show that's being put on for the world.

Analysts have said that these launches are very possibly a response to the ongoing military alliances between the United States and South Korea.  North Korean considers these military exercises and alliances preparation for an invasion and thus dislikes them.

The military exercises conducted in South Korea are said to be mostly done on computer simulations.

Melissa Hanham from the Center for Nonproliferation Studies in California said: “When they [North Korea] fire salvos of missiles, it’s usually because they’re training, so in a way, they’re doing their own exercises,”

According to North Korea's state run media(KCNA), Kim Jong Un the leader of North Korea said to its special forces The North Korean People's Army “should think of mercilessly wiping out the enemy with arms only and occupying Seoul at one go and the southern half of Korea,”

Now it looks like North Korea still has a long way to go with their rockets because apparently two of them fell into the sea. They flew around 150 Miles before falling into the sea. The last missile seems to have blown up almost immediately. This is what is said to have happened to the rockets. They were fired during a period of half an hour.

a spokesman for the U.S. Pacific Command,  Cmdr. Dave Benham  said: “We are working with our interagency partners on a more detailed assessment and we will provide a public update if warranted,”

What North Korea has done once again, is a violation of what the international community wants. The international community wants these tests, launches, and more to stop.

The White House said that President Donald Trump had been briefed on the launches. They're also monitoring the entire issue.

North Korea was considering attacking a U.S  territory earlier in August. Guam the territory that was threatened issued a fact sheet on nuclear threats that gave citizens some helpful tips on what they should do if they found themselves in a nuclear attack.

Surveillance Of Your Devices By Governments Or People

Photo of computer running code. (Pixabay)

Most of us are pretty well aware that the police, CSIS, CIA, or just government in general track us and can find us in a lot of places. We also know that these government organizations have been doing them for a good while. The tech needed to track people is easy to get your hands on. This type of tech can give anyone who is using it your info. As in all your contacts, SMS messages, and more. This causes a lot of fear for people and even causes them to question the legality of it.

First off what type of "tech" are we even referring to. We're talking about IMSI. It's basically short for International mobile subscriber identity, and what that means is it's used to identify a user of a cellular network. It's also used for getting your details on home location registry or as locally copied location registry for visitors.

This is clear cut surveillance that's used every now and then to just from most people's understanding keep tabs on people. Apparently, even Edward Snowden who spoke to Vice said that rarely has this surveillance ever stopped a terrorist attack.

An IMSI catcher essentially acts as a false cell phone tower that is like a man in the middle of the real cell phone tower and the target's phone. It can get a lot of your info pretty easily.

You can watch that video from Vice here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucRWyGKBVzo

You might be thinking to yourself that it must be hard to get your hands on these IMSI catchers. Well, that's not true. You can apparently buy them for a few thousand dollars off a shelf or even online.

The idea that you can be tracked was always something people hated. No one likes to know that someone can hear what you're saying or see you through your camera, read your emails, and texts.

That's why there are people who look up to Edward Snowden and feel that what he did was right. Others feel that what he did was bad and they even feel that he's a traitor to the United States.

People obviously don't like it, that's why people protest the idea of it. Protests that have people holding the signs saying "thank you, Snowden."

We asked someone who is generally concerned with what's being collected from them by governments and online websites and they had this to say.  She felt that she would dislike having her conversations recorder or even having her SMS messages viewed by someone she didn't know personally.

However, in many countries, law enforcement agencies, as well as government agencies, need to get permission from a court order to track someone or a group of people.

Whatever the case may be ISMIs is certainly something that can be scary for a lot of people. It can definitely prevent terrorist attacks but it can also be information that is not acted upon by governments, that would ultimately end up with innocent people dying because info can not be confirmed. This is a scary time for people in the world who want to live with both security and anonymity.

CNN Goes Daily On Snapchat With News

Globe in New York (Pixabay)

CNN a very large news network has come up with a new plan to try an attract younger audiences. They're going daily on Snapchat with a show called The Update. The Update features five news stories from reporters, bureaus around the world.

It is said to be going daily with episodes being streamed at 6 P.M. This is a decent time frame when you consider that it will allow both students and workers whoa re home from work around that time. This allows them to settle down with the 6 o-clock news on Snapchat.

Snapchat already has a Discover area. This area allows a user to watch stories from publishers. CNN was apparently part of that.

This is also CNN's answer to NBC's "stay tuned" show that has generated millions of views on Snapchat. CNN's "The Update" will give more options for viewers to watch some of the most well known and most trusted news sources around.

This will certainly allow younger people to keep up with current events. Young people often don't keep up with current events because they feel that it's not that important. However, a lot of people feel the opposite way and would love to have services to see the news easily and quickly so that they can have a conversation starter.

We asked a rather consistent user of Snapchat what they thought of the new show reportedly being launched. "Well, we are already so plugged in, I say if it IS credible sources being put on snap chat to help us stay connected and aware then yeah for sure Mr. Jones said. "

Next Version Of Android To Be Called Oreo

Android phone (Pixabay)

Apparently, the next version of the very popular operating system for mobile devices called Android might end up being called Oreo. This goes well with their Google's tradition. They basically name each version after a sweet treat.

It's going to come with several new features. You can reportedly use an app without having it installed. Now if that's true, it's truly something useful for those who just spend a lot of time in the play store messing around with new apps. Another feature reportedly allows you to respond to notifications directly on a home screen.

The new version might end up on Google's new Pixel phone that's supposed to start being sold during October.

The deal between Oreo's creator and Google was referred to as a partnership. This is because it's not really a sponsorship since apparently no money was exchanged.

Google's competitor Apple does not name IOS these sweet treat names. They take a different approach, as in they're more of a usual name. An example of this is with IOS 10. It's a simple name and lets you know it's a new version.

This version of Android might help Google sell more Pixel phones since people like to have the latest stuff when it comes to tech.

Antifa Members Tell War Veteran To 'F*ck Off, Nazi Scum."

A man gets sprayed with a chemical irritant as multiple fights break out between Trump supporters and anti-Trump protesters in Berkeley, California on April 15, 2017. (Credit: Getty/Josh Edelson)

Antifa members in Boston have reportedly called a former U.S soldier who was deployed to Afghanistan a "Nazi." The incident happened on Saturday and the Antifa members were counter-protesting a free speech rally. Antifa is also known for disliking President Donald Trump.

Boston Antifa said on the social media platform known as Twitter “Veterans don’t get a free pass. Today’s Nazi for defending freedom of speech yesterday. You’re most at fault #BostonFreeSpeech #BostonResist."

The video shows Antifa shouting at the veteran and him staying extremely calm.

A news crew was interviewing a former veteran on Saturday during the free speech rally. This brave former American soldier had said he enlisted in the United States military. He was also sent to Afghanistan.

Antifa members had apparently called him a Nazi which truly is something disrespectful. This situation is something that should not happen. A soldier keeps us safe in our beds, homes, workplaces, etc. These people are some of the bravest people we have in our society, they're people who we do not call Nazis. This man stood up for the rights of the people and stood up for the values of America. https://twitter.com/AntifaBoston/status/898938417085644800

There's even a video of this going down. There's basically a group of Antifa member saying "F*ck Off Nazi Scum."

They were pretty close to this guy's face and yet he kept his cool and continued his interview.

Here's the video
https://twitter.com/AntifaBoston/status/898938417085644800
This also is not the first time Antifa has done something like this. A few months ago Antifa members were reportedly told to locate Confederate graves and desecrate them. You can read our article on that over here http://www.vanguardnews.ca/2017/06/antifa-might-desecrate-dead-soldiers.html

Spotify Free Users Can Now Use It On Google Home

Google Home

Spotify has come out with an offer that may be great for people who want to play their music throughout their home. Users that are on the free side of things can now play music on Google Home. The service was only previously able to be done by people who were subscribed to Spotify premium.

Google Home has been available for a little while now and a lot of people have been streaming music from it. However, that case was only for people who were paying for the music. Google Play Music was one service of which recently gave free users more options with the Hub. Spotify is next on the list with now allowing its users to stream their music on the Home.

This is said to be available right away for free users in UK, U.S, Germany, Canada, Australia, and France.

Mikael Ericsson, Spotify's product director for platform and partner experience,  said: "We are incredibly excited that, from today, millions of Spotify's free users will be able to enjoy Spotify in their homes through voice-activated speakers for the very first time, thanks to the Assistant on Google Home,"

This is a big deal because people don't have to pay to use that service on Google Home now. There's also the ability to let them search for tunes to rock out to with their voice. It's rather useful for people who want to listen to music and cook or do something else and listen to music at the same time.

If you've properly configured Spotify and Google Home you should be able to to use terms like "Ok Google, Play Spotify" and get things going.

This could help some people with their choice to buy either the Google Home of Amazon Echo. The two devices have been a hard choice for some people because they're both so unique and helpful.

This Guy lost 7,500 Bitcoins ($38M CAD Today)

James Howells threw away the hard disk containing the bitcoin this summer. Photo: Athena Picture Agency

A very unfortunate man has lost over 30 million dollars in Canadian because he tossed out his hard drive that had 7500 Bitcoins on it. This happened a few years ago and he'll probably never get his money back either.  His name is James Howells.

"You know when you put something in the bin, and in your head, say to yourself 'that's a bad idea'? I really did have that," He told the Guardian.

His Bitcoin wallet address was created in 2009 when Bitcoin was not worth a whole lot. James lost 7500 Bitcoins. However, today that current amount of Bitcoin is worth around $38 Million dollars Canadian.

The question of how he even got his hands on that large amount was back in 2009 when the coin was easy to mine. Mining is basically when your computer can be tasked with solving mathematical problems and as a reward for that, you're given a certain amount of a cryptocurrency coin. In 2009 Bitcoin was far easier to mine and he did that for a little while and he got some coins.

"I don't have an exact date, the only time period I can give – and I've been racking my own brains – is between 20 June and 10 August. Probably mid-July". He said.

The hard drive containing the wallet address and all of the Bitcoins was tossed out in the garbage. He said that he did not think anything too important was on it at that time.

Unfortunately for James Howells, he did not have any back up of that private key. Which means that the wallet on his hard drive is basically lost forever.

James also did go to the landfill. "I had a word with one of the guys down there, explained the situation. And he actually took me out in his truck to where the landfill site is, the current ditch they're working on. It's about the size of a football field, and he said something from three or four months ago would be about three or four feet down."James said.

Maria Chappelle-Nadal Apologizes After Controversial Facebook Comment

Missouri state Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal speaks on the Senate floor in Jefferson City, Mo., in 2014. (AP)

A Missouri Democratic State lawmaker has reportedly said on Facebook  “I hope Trump is assassinated!” She was obviously referring to the President of the United States. The lawmaker's name is  Maria Chappelle-Nadal and she's a Missouri Democrat State Sen.

The comment is now deleted, however as most of us know on the internet, nothing is truly ever deleted.

Maria Chappelle-Nadal did in fact, acknowledge that what she did was wrong.

She was replying to someone who had posted about a relative being on Trump's secret service and seemed to be rather frustrated with the entire thing.

The person she replied to had reportedly written: "I'll probably get a visit from the Secret Service smdh." and Chappelle apparently decided to write after that: "No. I will. I hope Trump is assassinated!"

She said to The Kansas City Star "The way I responded this morning was wrong."

"Did I mean the statement? No. Am I frustrated? Absolutely. The president is causing damage. He's causing hate." She said.

A lot of people really want her to resign after an incident like this. Despite her not really meaning her statement on Facebook, a lot of people want her to step down from office. Even people who are Democrats and they're in the same party as her.

Chappelle does not want to step down and when asked about stepping down she had reportedly said: "Hell, no!"

chairman of the Missouri Democratic Party, Stephen Webber said: “State Sen. Chappelle-Nadal’s comments are indefensible,” “All sides need to agree that there is no room for suggestions of political violence in America — and the Missouri Democratic Party will absolutely not tolerate calls for the assassination of the president. I believe she should resign.”

It has even been reported that the secret service is now investigating this particular incident.

This is not something that should be taken lightly. Some people are calling it political violence because of what the statement means. We must, however, note her response. As she said she did not mean it and she did in fact, acknowledge that what she said was wrong. It's certainly something everyone can learn from.

Trump 'YOU CAN'T CHANGE HISTORY' Defending Monuments

Trump said there was plenty of blame to go around for what happened in Charlottesville over the weekend. (Jonathan Ernst/Reuters)

The President of the United States Donald Trump has come out and defended the monuments that are being removed all around the United States.

Trump feels that the historical monuments add to the entire aesthetic of the nation itself.

President Trump wrote on Twitter: “Sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart with the removal of our beautiful statues and monuments,” “You can’t change history, but you can learn from it.”

“Also the beauty that is being taken out of our cities, towns, and parks will be greatly missed and never able to be comparably replaced!”

Many people feel that the monuments should not be removed because it's history. Then there's the other side of the argument that is people who want it removed because they feel it's oppressive and is still a form of racism against a group or groups of people.

“I would say that is up to a local town, community or the federal government, depending on where it is located,” Trump told reporters after being asked about the Robert E. Lee situation.

Donald Trump has faced a lot of criticism lately, especially after what happened in Charlottesville, where one person was killed during a rally. The President spoke out against racism, white supremacy, and more. He also reportedly retweeted an alt right provocateur. The tweet was apparently deleted. Trump has even been called out for how he spoke on the North Korean situation regarding nuclear weapons when he said "fire and fury".

The entire situation regarding whether or not the monuments should be removed because of the history they represent is a huge debate at the moment in a lot of places in North America, especially the United States.

Search For 5 That Were On Board MIlitary Helicopter In Hawaii Begins

Black Hawk helicopter (Pixabay)

A military helicopter crash has happened right near Hawaii. The helicopter is a Black Hawk and it was conducting a training operation alongside another chopper. The Coast Guard is currently searching in what was said to be a debris field. The incident happened on Tuesday.

The Black Hawk helicopter that went missing is a four-bladed and has twin engines. It's also a utility helicopter. UH-60 Black Hawk is one of the helicopters involved in this incident.

The Coast Guard got their call after the military lost contact with one of their Black Hawk choppers. Wheeler Army Airfield called the Coast Guard around 10 P.M to report the incident.

Training during the nighttime is a normal and routine thing for the military to do. The helicopter that was training with the Black Hawk lost visual of the Black Hawk. This obviously caused the search to begin rather quickly. Communications were lost near  Kaena Point and Dillingham Airfield because they were training near there.

At 11:30 P.M responders had located what's being called a debris field.

The Helicopters are apparently part of the Army's 25th Infantry Division.

The search is rather large. It's consisting of many boats, an airplane, and even two helicopters.

This is just one of many recent times where aerial vehicles have either crashed or disappeared in North America in the past few months.

This is certainly a bad situation that will hopefully be solved shortly for the people that were on the aircraft.

10 Interesting Facts About Nukes

Nuclear Weapon Test (Pixabay)

We've all thought about nuclear bombs at least once in our lifetimes. We wonder what it must be like to hold that kind of responsibility. The reason we used/created them and more. So here are 10 crazy facts you need to know about nuclear bombs.

1) The largest nuclear bomb ever detonated was called the Tsar bomb. It apparently even cracked windows in Sweden and was detonated by the Soviet Union.  The nuke itself was pretty scary when you think about it. Just think about that, it was the largest, I guess it's good it wasn't ever used against people right.

2) Apparently, the bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima released an amount of energy equivalent to a conversion of 0.7 grams of matter into energy. Which is something else if you ask us. Imagine that on a larger scale. Oh wait, we can, it would not be pretty.

3) The Trinity nuclear bomb site left something unique after the test in that area. There was glass that was made from the sand after the detonation. The glass is primarily composed of arkosic sand composed of Quartz grains and feldspar.

4) A single U.S stealth bomber can apparently carry  16 B83 nuclear bombs which each of those bombs can produce 75 times the amount of force from the Hiroshima bomb.

5) On February 5, 1958, The United States Air Force apparently lost a hydrogen bomb that weighed 7600 pounds. It was never found. That happened in  Wassaw Sound in Savannah, Georgia.

6) An atomic bomb cameraman removed his safety goggles for few seconds after the bomb exploded and he immediately covered his eyes with his hands. He could see the bones of his hands through his eye lids.

7) During the height of the Cold War, the U.S developed a plan to drop a nuke on the moon to show military might. It never happened obviously but the mathematical part of the plan was developed by Carl Sagan.

8) There was a total of 928 announced nuclear tests at the Nevada Test Site. Apparently, 828 of those were underground. Kind of crazy when you think of it. A fat portion was underground.

9) There's an incident called the Vela Incident. Now, this particular incident does not have any nation that's taken responsibility for the test blast.  It's been disputed ever since it happened in 1979. There were characteristics of a nuclear detonation but it's still debated it if truly was or not.

10) The Manhatten Project scientist had fears that a fission bomb would cause something called runaway fission and would light the atmosphere up.

Guam Preparing For Nuclear Threat, Issues Fact Sheet For Residents

Guam Harbor (Pixabay)

The small area that Guam takes up is now preparing for nuclear threat. Guam Homeland Security released a fact sheet for its residents on "preparing for an imminent missile threat" This obviously has to do with the nuclear attack threat from North Korea.
The fact sheet covers what someone should do if they're still alive after the blast.

The fact sheet said: "Do not look at the flash or fireball — it can blind you," "Take cover behind anything that might offer protection."

The fact sheet also covered what people should do if they're caught outside when the blast happens. "Remove your clothing to keep radioactive material from spreading. Removing the outer layer of clothing can remove up to 90% of radioactive material. If practical, place your contaminated clothing in a plastic bag and seal or tie the bag. Place the bag as far away as possible from humans and animals so that the radiation it gives off does not affect others,"

Residents should also take shelter immediately because of the radioactive material. The radioactive fallout can be carried by the wind for miles, so if your miles away don't treat the situation any differently.

Officials will try to use "all forms of mass communication to alert the public" after, during, and before the attack.

"When possible, take a shower with lots of soap and water to help remove radioactive contamination. Do not scrub or scratch the skin. Wash your hair with shampoo, or soap and water. Do not use conditioner in your hair because it will bind radioactive material to your hair," The paper mentioned.

It is as always recommended to create an emergency kit. This kit should contain medical supplies, food, water and quite possibly emergency blankets. This can be good if an attack causes authorities to not be able to evacuate people immediately after.

North Korea a country that often threatens nuclear attacks has come out and claims they're creating a plan. The plan is supposed to be ready by mid-August then it will need approval by Kim Jong Un, North Korea's leader.  The plan, in fact, is basically launching 4 missiles toward Guam. Guam is also home to a U.S military base.

Consumer Reports Survey Finds Reliability Issue With Microsoft Surface PCs

Consumer Reports has stopped recommending the Microsoft Surface pro because it doesn't seem too reliable to them. Apparently, 25% of owners have had problems within two years of owning one of them.

They found this out after doing a survey that involved 90,000 owners of tablets and laptops. The survey found that around 25% of owners have come across some sort of problem after the second year of ownership.

Some of the problems are apparently freezing touchscreen response and unexpected shutdowns.

“These conclusions are based on our breakage rate estimates for laptops by the end of the second year of ownership, gathered from subscribers' experiences with 41,304 laptops purchased new between 2014 and the first quarter of 2017, The non-profit wrote.

However, Microsoft said to Reuters  “We don’t believe these findings accurately reflect Surface owners’ true experiences or capture the performance and reliability improvements made with every Surface generation,”

The list covers some of the largest brands in laptops and computers in general with HP, Apple, Asus, Samsung, Microsoft, Dell and more on the list.

Apple had the lowest breakage rate with around 10% of people asked. HP had around 20% breakage rate.

However, with computers, the breakage issue can really depend on how a user is using the device. Once again it can also depend on hardware as well, it's really a mix between the two.

Microsoft has made good improvements between the generation of the devices. They even made a Surface Pro Laptop that's pretty cool. Microsoft's position may have been hurt by bugs and crashes. It must be noted that Microsoft does fix these issues as fast as possible.

Canadian Forces Build A Camp For Asylum Seekers

Members of the Canadian armed forces erect tents to house asylum seekers at the Canada-United States border in Lacolle, Que. (Graham Hughes/Canadian Press)

The Canadian Forces have built a camp for asylum seekers that are on the Quebec Border. Asylum seekers are currently being held there. This was done to help accommodate these people.

The military is building the camp at Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle in Quebec. The camp itself will have tents of course. There might be heating and even lighting. The camp can house up to 500 people.

This is an announcement that some might enjoy hearing because there's a lot of asylum seekers coming into Quebec right now. These people that are coming in are crossing into Canada via unofficial border check points. However, the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) have indeed set up a tent to help with the new people coming over.

The military did mention that most of the soldiers aiding in the set up of the tents will go back to their home bases once it's all arranged. The military will also not be participating in law enforcement tasks and security tasks.

The Canadian Forces has a history of helping people. They have helped with wildfires, search and rescue, and floods before. It does not come to a large surprise that they're building a small camp to house the incoming asylum seekers for the time being.

Many of the asylum seekers are of Haitian decent. Some of them now face deportation and are fleeing to Canada. They might get deported because President Donald Trump is not going to extend the temporary protection status for Haitian nationals. It is set to expire in January.  This protection status started in 2010 after the terrible earthquake in Haiti. However, the Department of Homeland Security now thinks Haiti is a safe place.

The Montreal French-language school board is preparing for students to be put into courses by the end of the month. This will mostly be children going into these courses.

There's another location being used to house asylum seekers and that's the Montreal Olympic Stadium.

Apparently, the Royal Victoria Hospital will be opened to new arrivals as well. Francine Dupuis who works with PRAIDA said the building can help accommodate 320 more people. He also mentioned in a news conference that not all shelters are currently full yet, however, to deal with the continuing influx they need more space.

A spokesperson for the CBSA (Canada Border Services Agency) Patrick Lefort, said that 700 people are currently waiting to be processed and that the wait is around 2-3 days. There is also apparently no beds and just chairs and benches.

North Korea Is Considering Attacking U.S Territory Guam.

The 33-year-old dictator told his countrymen in January that North Korea is close to possessing the ability to strike around the world. (Associated Press)

North Korea a country that is led by a wild leader that is often threatening opposing nations have said that they may be considering attacking Guam. Guam is a small area with around 160,000 people living there. Guam is also a U.S Pacific territory.

North Korea in the past has threatened to attack the United States and even South Korea. These are countries that take these threats very seriously. Kim Jong Un who is the leader of North Korea often threatens to attack opposing nations with nuclear weapons.

On Wednesday North Korea said it was "carefully examining" plans to attack a U.S territory in the Pacific. It's called Guam.

North Korea is very open when going on and saying they're developing nuclear weapons. Their leader Kim Jong Un doesn't even care what people think. They're apparently considering attacking a U.S territory. Now when you think about this even for a short while, you'll come to the conclusion that North Korea is out of hand and needs to calm down.

If North Korea were to attack it would probably be both a political storm and a military storm.

This ridiculous plan would be put into place as soon as Kim Jong Un made a decision. That was said by a Korean People's Army spokesperson. The statement was run on a North Korean state-run news agency known as KCNA.

"The KPA Strategic Force is now carefully examining the operational plan for making an enveloping fire at the areas around Guam with medium-to-long-range strategic ballistic rocket Hwasong-12 in order to contain the U.S. major military bases on Guam including the Anderson Air Force Base," The spokesperson said in a statement.

This plan would be reported to North's Supreme Command soon. However, we do not know when. This basically means that this can go down at any moment.

Another statement made the accusation that the U.S is coming up with a  "preventive war" The statement also said that any plans to get through with this would result in "all-out war wiping out all the strongholds of enemies, including the U.S. mainland."

The spokesperson also said that the United States should stop its "reckless military provocation" to avoid military action.

Bombers did fly from Guam on Monday as part of the U.S is "continuous bomber presence," Guam also holds strategic importance.

This is happening right after what President Donald Trump said. Trump said that North Korea should stop making threats to the United States or else it would be met with "fire and fury".

There was even new sanctions put on North Korea by the United Nations. This was a move that Kim Jong Un disliked of course because it might make things a little bit harder for him.

Fired Google Employee Might Be Suing

Google Chrome browser photo (Pixabay)

The Google employee that was recently fired for his ten-page document on diversity has come out and said that he is likely to sue the company. His name is James Damore and he is a former software engineer. He's likely to sue according to The New York Times.

“likely be pursuing legal action. I have a legal right to express my concerns about the terms and conditions of my working environment and to bring up potentially illegal behavior, which is what my document does,” said James Damore to the Times.

He also mentioned that he had apparently submitted a complaint to the National Labor Relations Board. He may have submitted the report before he was fired and that he claimed Google's upper management was “misrepresenting and shaming me in order to silence my complaints,

Well by now you might be asking yourself what this memo is even called. It's apparently called Google's Ideological Echo Chamber.

Sundar Pichai, Google’s chief executive wrote: “The memo has clearly impacted our co-workers, some of whom are hurting and feel judged based on their gender. Our co-workers shouldn’t have to worry that each time they open their mouths to speak in a meeting, they have to prove that they are not like the memo states, being ‘agreeable’ rather than ‘assertive,’ showing a ‘lower stress tolerance,’ or being ‘neurotic.’”

The document has caused a widespread debate from both Google employees and non-Google employees. Some people feel that Google wanted to uphold a certain standard within the company. Others think that what Google did was wrong and that they need to reinstate his job. Whatever the case may be, this has caused a large debate to explode into action.

What Damore wrote is being called by some as an anti diversity memo. His memo was circulated around the company. Many feel that diversity hiring is bad because it can cause someone who is more qualified not to be hired. On the other hand, people feel diversity hiring is good because it gives everyone a chance at the job.

James Damore the former employee of Google was said to have been employed since 2013.

Japan Wants A Denuclearized World During Anniversary Of Hiroshima

Tokyo, Japan (Pixabay)

Japan a country that had suffered two nuclear bombs being dropped on them during the second world war wants the world where it is denuclearized. This happened on the 72nd anniversary of Hiroshima, this was just one place where a nuke was dropped on the Japanese. The other was Nagasaki.

It is said that 50,000 people are representatives from around 80 other countries were in attendance.

The Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzō Abe said: "For us to truly realize a world without nuclear weapons, the participation of both nuclear weapon states and non-nuclear weapon states is necessary,"

The United Nations is said to have reached its first agreement on a ban on nuclear weapons.  Countries that have nuclear weapons apparently did not want to take part in the vote or the negotiations. One of those countries is the United States. However, Japan is said to be among them as well.

Japan does, however, already follow a policy of not possessing, allowing nuclear weapons in its territory, and does not produce them.

One critic of this policy is the United States because they feel that North Korea would still be producing and trying to advance its nuclear program even with the ban. They're not wrong to feel that way because North Korea has in the past continued to commit several horrendous crimes even if they're illegal. Some of these crimes are placing people into forced labor camps. The possibility of people dying in these camps is rather high because of the sheer brutality of them.

If this prohibition actually gets ratified it is said that it'll be put into place 90 days after that.

President of the United States, Donald Trump apparently told Reuters in February  "if countries are going to have nukes, we're going to be at the top of the pack."

On the other hand former President of the United States, Barrack Obama was the first U.S president to visit Hiroshima.

While Japan wants a world with no nuclear weapons, it seems many people would rather just remove North Korea's capability to develop nuclear weapons. A lot of people feel that countries can control themselves when they possess nuclear weapons. They do not feel that an unpredictable country like North Korea should have them because of the outstanding amount of threats made by North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un has made.

The  United Nations Security Council did vote unanimously to impose sanctions on North Korea. That was done because of the country's long range missile test.

General António Guterres , who is a U.N. Secretary called for nuclear-armed countries to do more in the act of riding the world of nuclear weapons.

Chicago To Sue Trump Administration

Chicago is reportedly going to sue the Trump administration over a sanctuary city funding. This has to do with the debate that sanctuary cities should not exist, it also has to do with immigration issues.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel said: "Chicago will not let our police officers become political pawns in a debate,"   "Chicago will not let our residents have their fundamental rights isolated and violated. And Chicago will never relinquish our status as a welcoming city."

This is happening right after Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the  U.S. Justice Department would not allow to a certain grant program unless they allowed immigration authorities to have full access to local jails and they would need to give 48 hours notice before releasing anyone on immigration violations.

Chicago is expected to receive $3.2 million this year. The funding is said to be happening for purchasing equipment.

It was said that the lawsuit would prevent the Trump admin from setting a precedent that can be used to possibly target other types of funding.

Trump has sought to go after sanctuary cities. These sanctuary cities are basically a safe haven for illegal immigrants to live in normally. Large cities such as New York and Montreal are said to be sanctuary cities.

Sarah Isgur Flores, who is a Justice Department spokeswoman said: "It's especially tragic that the mayor is less concerned with that staggering figure than he is spending time and taxpayer money protecting criminal aliens and putting Chicago's law enforcement at greater risk."

Many people think that when an illegal immigrant gets deported for a non-serious crime it can have a negative effect on immigrants in general who want to report a crime.

On the other hand, many people feel those sanctuary cities are bad because they let people who are not legal in the country. This is often the case with some people feeling that illegal immigrants take jobs from legal citizens in these sanctuary cities.

While Chicago's lawsuit is reportedly the first to give a challenge to the department over the Byrne program. Officials are apparently in contact with other cities, who might go down the same route.

This is still a longstanding debate on immigration. It will also not be an easy win for anyone on any side of the argument because of the ever changing information that keeps being released from both sides.

President Trump has had issues regarding his idea in immigration before. Trump's stance on illegal immigration has caused a lot of protest in the past. Illegal immigration has been a big issue that the Trump administration seems to want to solve.

Trudeau Feels Canada Can Handle New Asylum Seekers

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau has tried to reassure Canadians that Canada can handle a lot of people that are currently coming into the country.

Trudeau also said that anyone who was caught trying to enter the country illegally would end up going through the same process as everyone else when it comes to immigration.

Quebec is actually on a track to get 12,000 asylum seekers by the end of this year. That's a very large number of people. Canada is said to have allowed at least 30,000 refugees in the country. That had to do with the migrant crisis.

The asylum requests in Quebec have tripled in the past two weeks.

The influx of asylum seekers has been putting pressure on the resources available for the province to utilize. However, Trudeau mentioned that  Ahmed Hussen who is the Immigration Minister was on his way Lacolle. This is being done to ensure everything is going as smooth as possible.

Justin Trudeau said: “We want migration to Canada to be done in an orderly fashion; there are border checkpoints and border controls that we need to make sure are respected,”

“We are ensuring that the capacity to deal with these refugees is in place and our immigration system remains strong and robust.” he mentioned.

“The core strength of Canada is that it’s not governments that are open to immigration, it’s Canadians themselves who are open to immigration,” he said.

Trudeau also said: “One of the reasons Canadians are open to immigration is because we know it has contributed to the growth of this country. Protecting Canadians’ confidence in the integrity of our system allows us to continue to be open, and that’s exactly what I plan to continue to do.”

Quebec, on the other hand, has reportedly asked Ottawa to help in aiding with a lot of asylum seekers' requests.

Asylum seekers are currently being held at Montreal's Olympic Stadium. It is said that the area that's been set up for them can hold 600 people.

Bitcoin Hit $4000 CAD And It's Awesome

Bitcoin coin, (Pixabay)

The cryptocurrency known as Bitcoin has now managed to hit 4000$ total. This is, of course, the amount of 1 Bitcoin.  This is a huge increase considering just yesterday Bitcoin was only worth $3700 CAD. Bitcoin Cash is also not doing as well.

This is all happening right after the fork that created Bitcoin Cash had happened. Many people were scared that their Bitcoins would be worth around 200$ USD. However, while Bitcoin Cash did not do as well, the original Bitcoin seems to be doing really well.

Part of the reason why Bitcoin Cash did not do as well as Bitcoin is because many people feel that the change was not lucrative for them if they decided to change to Bitcoin Cash. It would be less profitable. As of right now, miners do not feel like it's worth to mine Bitcoin Cash or use it all that much.

People on the other hand who invested money into Bitcoin when it was around the 3100$ CAD mark are probably jumping up and down in happiness. This is because like any stock value when the price of the "item" if you can say that goes up, whoever invested when it was low makes more money.

If you're one of the lucky people that have a nice fat stack of cash because you bought Bitcoin when it was cheap, it might be the time to sell because it can fall again at any moment.

If you want to get into buying and trading Crypto such as Bitcoin, it's possible. You can sign up and use services such as Kraken. Kraken is just one of many places where you can learn more about Crypto and maybe even make some money off it. However, you can also lose a lot of money in it.

Bitcoin is a currency that can fluctuate a lot. The reason for this is because there's a lot of factors that are taken into the worth of a coin. Some of these factors are if the coin is being traded on exchanges if it's even being mined, as well as other reasons.
